Patrick Marie Herbet was born in 1959 in France.
He is happily married with Xue Bing with a son Jean-Charles, born in August 25 1990 and a daughter Meiduo, born in December 16 2001.
He lives in Beijing and spend his time between his offices of Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Shenzen.
After his university studies in France, he embarked on a journey around the world which landed him in Beijing and Hong Kong in 1982 after a long trip through Europe and Russia. He started his career as an entrepreneur and has developed several businesses in Asia.
He owns the Abacare Group, a leading Insurance Broking group in Asia with offices in, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Singapore. The Abacare Group services a large number of corporate and private clients all over the world and is active in Life and General Insurance, Health and Medical coverage, Pension Plans and Art and Valuables worldwide Insurances.
Patrick Marie Herbet is involved with various corporate and charity organizations.
He is:
- Founding member and former vice-president of the French Chamber of commerce in Hong Kong
- Charter President of the Rotary Club of Wan chai
- Officer Commander of the Confrérie of Chevaliers of wine-tasting.
- Founder and Grand Seneschal of the Sous-Commanderie of Beijing of the Chevaliers of wine-tasting
- Chevalier of Mérite Agricole awarded by the French Government.
- Chevalier of the National Merit awarded by the French Government
- Chevalier of the Legion of Honour awarded by the French Government
- Foreign Trade Advisor of France in Beijing (senior adviser to French Prime Minister)
He is involved in many charities. With the Rotary Club of Wan chai, Hong Kong he participated and financed several successful charity projects. He is the founder with a few friends of a charity dedicated to create and finance schools, orphanages and old people homes in China, Nepal, India and Bhutan. He contributed to the creation and the financing of an orphanage and a school in Yunnan province of China where children live happily.
Patrick Marie has great interests in arts, holistic medicine, meditation and the practice of Buddhism.
He enjoys writing poetry, travels off the beaten tracks, entertaining and has special interest in fine food and wines
